England Golf has today enhanced player experience on the golf course by introducing ‘My Stats’ to the MyEG app.
While the app has been used for players to enter scores for handicap purposes, the new ‘My Stats’ function gives golfers an opportunity to better understand and analyse their game through a number of statistics, including fairways hit, greens in regulation and putts per round.
Both golf club members and iGolfers will be able to benefit from the stats and further enjoy their game by inputting which club has been used for certain shots, selecting the direction the ball went, whether they hit it long or short on their approach to the green, as well as how many putts, shots in greenside bunkers, and penalty shots were taken.
To add to the golfer’s experience, they will also be able to see stats from all their previous rounds which they have previously recorded, helping them to identify areas to work on.
England Golf Chief Operating Officer Richard Flint said:
“We’ve had over 400,000 people downloading the MyEG app and 2023 saw a huge increase in its usage, with more than 21 per cent of scores being registered through the app, including a 20 per cent increase in usage by girls/women.
“We were also able to introduce interoperability which saw a staggering 82 per cent increase in scores submitted by England Golf members and iGolf subscribers at clubs in other GB&I nations.
“After conducting a survey and receiving over 12,000 responses from users of the MyEG app, we have listened to our members and therefore introduced ‘My Stats’ to help golfers enjoy and improve their experiences.
“The app has been very simple to use but we want to make it a fun one-stop shop for our golfers, and by adding options to measure statistics, it will directly benefit the golfer to help them understand their game.”
When creating a scorecard, the app will have tabs for golfers to enter ‘STATS’, as well as another tab titled ‘LOCAL RULES’.
Golf clubs will be able to add details of their ‘LOCAL RULES’, allowing players to check any rules specific to the hole on the course they are playing.
Flint added:
“While it will not be compulsory to fill in stats for handicapping purposes on the app, we actively encourage golfers to engage and record, so that they can track their progress and monitor their handicap all in one place.”
