Not only were the Euros on England players minds this summer, they were also reportedly speaking about their club futures amongst themselves.
What better advice to get than from a player who used to play for the same team who are apparently trying to sign you? You can’t get a better idea of life at that club from a player who was there.
And that is the current situation with England defender Kieran Trippier, who used to play for Atletico Madrid.
His former team are now being linked with Chelsea and England midfielder Conor Gallagher, and the pair have reportedly been speaking about the move whilst in the England camp during the Euros this summer.
Gallagher could be saying his goodbyes to Chelsea
As per reports from Diario AS, former Atletico Madrid defender Kieran Trippier advised Gallagher to accept a move to Madrid, during their time in the England camp at Euro 2024.
As cited by Football Espana, Gallagher is rumoured to have asked Trippier about life under Diego Simeone and the experienced full back had nothing but praise for the Argentinian and his time in Madrid.
Atletico could soon step up their interest in Gallagher and as we know and have kept hearing for some time now, Chelsea could be willing to sell the academy graduate this window because his sale would represent pure profit and as well as that, he will become a free agent this time next year if Chelsea don’t either sell him or extend his contract, so they will want and need to avoid that scenario.
Clubs in England have also been interested in Gallagher but nothing seems to have moved forward with any of those yet. It seems the valuation of Gallagher has put many teams off, but he still seems destined to move soon.
