After Donald Trump declared his victory on Tuesday, several social media users claimed that VP Kamala Harris has conceded the election and called the former president to congratulate him. However, there is no evidence to back this claim. Neither the Harris-Walz campaign nor Trump’s team have confirmed the same.
This comes after Trump claimed victory in the 2024 presidential contest after DDHQ and Fox News projected that he had crossed the 270 electoral vote threshold and defeated Kamala Harris.
“America has given us an unprecedented and powerful mandate,” Trump said from his Mar-a-Lago residence.
“Reports are saying that Vice President Kamala Harris has just called Donald Trump to concede and congratulate him,” one person said on X, platform formerly known as Twitter.
“Kamala Harris concedes the election by giving a phone call to Donald Trump,” another one added.
“Claims being made that Vice-President Kamala Harris has called President-Elect Donald J. Trump to Concede the Race and Congratulate him on the Win, are False,” a third person tweeted on the Elon Musk-led platform.
VP Harris canceled her speech on Tuesday night but is expected to speak on Thursday. Her campaign co-chair, Cedric Richmond, said that the Democratic nominee will return not only to address her supporters but also the nation.
