Ben Chilwell has not been included in England’s provisional squad for Euro 2024.
The Chelsea left-back’s 2023-24 campaign has been disrupted through injury and he has not started a Premier League match since March 2. He featured just 13 times in the top flight this term after struggling with various knee and hamstring problems.
Chilwell, 27, has been capped 21 times at senior international level and was part of the England squad at Euro 2021 but missed out on a place at the 2022 World Cup due to injury.
There are places for Crystal Palace midfielder Adam Wharton and forward Eberechi Eze, however.
Wharton has been a revelation since joining Crystal Palace from Championship side Blackburn Rovers in January in a deal that could rise to £22million including add-ons.
The 20-year-old has gone on to start all but one game since and been a central figure to Palace’s improved form following the arrival of Oliver Glasner as the club’s new manager.
Wharton has never been capped at senior level but has played through the age groups and made his debut for the Under-21s, in a 7-0 win over Luxembourg, in March.
Eze’s season was punctuated by a series of injuries, but he still provided 11 goals and six assists in 31 appearances in all competitions for Crystal Palace.
Palace secured a top-half finish following Glasner’s appointment in February, with Eze providing six goals and three assists in the 11 Premier League matches he played under the Austrian manager.
The 25-year-old was first selected by Gareth Southgate for England’s Euro 2020 provisional squad, but injury forced him to withdraw. He made his debut against Malta in June 2023 and has been capped twice at senior international level.
