Buttler will lead ENG in T20 WC 2024 [X.com]
In a significant development, the England Cricket Board has named a robust 15-member provisional squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup in the United States and Caribbean.
As expected, swashbuckling keeper-batter Jos Buttler will lead the side, which is an amalgamation of experience and youth.
In a massive move, England have included injury-prone pacer Jofra Archer in the squad. They have also dropped their Mr consistent Dawid Malan, making a room for the inexperienced Tom Hartley, considering the spin-friendly West Indies pitches.
The squad also sees the inclusion of destructive batter Will Jacks, who has enjoyed stellar success for RCB in the IPL 2024.
Harry Brook, who withdrew himself from the IPL citing personal reasons, has made it into the World Cup squad. The English batting lineup looks formidable, studded with Jonny Bairstow, Brook, Duckett and Phil Salt alongside skipper Buttler.
Liam Livingstone and Moeen Ali will be England’s spin-bowling all-rounders, with Sam Curran being the only seam-bowling allrounder.
Archer will spearhead the English pace department alongside Reece Topley, Chris Jordan and Mark Wood.
The same team will participate in a pre World Cup bilateral T20I series against Pakistan at home.
