The Temple women’s basketball team announced Friday that 6-2 forward Felicia Jacobs-Abiola of Great Britain has signed on to join Coach Diane Richardson’s squad. Jacobs-Abiola’s signature fills out Temple’s 15-scholarship roster for the 2024-25 campaign.
Jacobs-Abiola recently led City of London Academy-Southwark to England’s National Basketball League Under-18 club team championship, totaling 12 points and 13 rebounds to earn MVP honors in the title game. She averaged 11.7 points and 12.3 rebounds per game during the regular season, shooting 59 percent from the field and 75 percent from the free throw line.
Just this week, Jacobs-Abiola was one of five players named to Basketball England’s 2023-24 U18 All-Star Team.
Last summer, Jacobs-Abiola competed for Great Britain’s national team in the FIBA U18 Women’s European Championship in Sofia, Bulgaria, averaging 8.1 points and 7.4 rebounds per game in the event. A year earlier, she averaged 12.7 points and 8.0 rebounds per game playing for Great Britain in the FIBA U16 European Championship in Podgorica, Montenegro.
Jacobs-Abiola visited Temple on January 31/February 1 and the Women’s Elite Academy Basketball League announced in April that she would be joining the Owls. On Friday, it became official.
Before heading across the Atlantic, though, Jacobs-Abiola will participate in the 2024 Hoopsfix Under-19 Women’s All-Star Classic at the Crystal Palace National Sports Centre in London on May 26. She is one of 24 players invited to the event.
Richardson has nine returnees (including walk-on Channing Williams) and seven newcomers in place for next season, as the Owls aim to win another American Conference regular season title and take the next step and gain an NCAA Tournament berth.
