Rico Lewis, Cole Palmer and Ezri Konza have been called up to the England squad for the first time ahead of their Euro 2024 qualifiers against Malta and North Macedonia. This comes following the withdrawal of Lewis Dunk, James Maddison and Callum Wilson due to injury.

The FA state that the majority of Gareth Southgate’s squad are expected to report to St. George’s Park on Monday with further assessments to take place. This comes after Real Madrid’s Jude Bellingham remains a doubt for the upcoming qualifiers due to a shoulder injury.

Lewis, Palmer and Konza have all represented England at youth level with Palmer, now at Chelsea, starting in England’s U21 Euro triumph against Spain in July. Palmer (21) has 10 goal contributions (six goals and four assists) in 14 games across all competitions for Chelsea this season, averaging a goal contribution every 87 minutes.

Lewis has continued to impress at Manchester City under Pep Guardiola while Konza is slowly establishing himself as one of the Premier League’s leading centre-backs.
