Of course, there are a host of British brands who might receive Kate Middleton’s royal warrant. Could Barbour get a nod, an iconic favourite of the famously outdoorsy Princess of Wales? Don’t count out Brora. The luxury cashmere producers, whose Scottish knitwear is hand-produced using 200-year-old mills, is likely to be high up the list, especially considering King Charles’ recent stipulation that royal warrant-bearing brands must evidence a sustainability policy.
When it comes to combining style and social consciousness, Beulah London will certainly be in consideration. Founded by Lady Natasha Rufus Isaacs (a close friend of Catherine’s, and the daughter of the 4th Marquess of Reading) and Lavinia Richards, the fashion house is not only beloved by the Princess of Wales (an early adopter since joining the royal family in 2011), but also Lady Gabriella Windsor and Tamara Beckwith Veroni.
‘The Beulah woman is sophisticated, glamorous, and has a conscience,’ Rufus Isaacs explained to Tatler, ‘She needs dresses which can be thrown on to make her look instantly glam, and she also cares about how and where her clothes have been made.’
And Beulah London is also known for giving back. The founders have committed themselves to supporting ‘vulnerable and trafficked women’. The brand is dedicated to ‘creating a sustainable, commercial and creative vehicle that will provide an alternative livelihood to these women,’ especially through employment.
