Prince William will be joined by a few European royals during his solo trip to France next month, it has been revealed.
The royal, 41, will attend an international commemorative ceremony at Omaha Beach, Saint Laurent sur Mur, alongside 25 heads of state and veterans from around the world on June 6.
Wiliam will be joined by King Frederik of Denmark, Crown Prince Haakon of Norway, King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima of The Netherlands. King Philippe and Queen Mathilde of Belgium will also joining the British royal heir.
Earlier in the day, King Charles and Queen Camilla will be at the Ministry of Defence and Royal British Legion’s event at the British Normandy Memorial at Ver-sur-Mer.
William will also attend the Canadian commemorative ceremony at the Juno Beach Centre, Courseulles-sur-Mer on June 6, as reported by HELLO!.
Kate, the Princess of Wales will not be joining her husband on the visit as she continues her cancer treatment.
William’s solo trip has been confirmed amid earlier news that upcoming engagements will be cancelled due to the planned general election taking place in July.
Despite this, the D-Day commemorations at the start of June and Trooping the Colour on 15 June are expected to go ahead.
There is, however, no confirmation as to whether the upcoming Japanese state visit will still take place at the end of June.
William’s visit to France also marks his first foreign trip since his wife’s diagnosis earlier this year.
Speaking of his wife, William gave a positive update about Kate’s treatment earlier this month.
During a visit to a hospital on the Isles of Scilly on May 10, he said – much to the relief of royal fans – that she is “doing well”.
The visit will also mark the King’s first foreign visit since his own cancer diagnosis back in February.
The announcement of the visit follows a number of official appearances the monarch has made since his return to public duties last month.
Although the royals are largely taking a break from engagements due to the forthcoming political election, William was joined by his eldest son at Wembley Stadium last week.
Attending the FA Cup Final, the father-and-son – who are both known football fans – looked to enjoy the Manchester City and Manchester United match.
