It has been a week to remember for Jess Naz as, after just putting pen to paper on a new contract last week, the forward has now been promoted into the full England senior squad for the first time ahead of their upcoming UEFA EURO 2025 qualifiers.
Having received a maiden call-up to the Lionesses squad earlier this month as one of the four standby players in the 28-player squad, Sarina Wiegman announced in a press conference on Thursday (30 May) evening that the 23-year-old has now moved into the full set-up.
With that news, she could be in line to make her maiden senior debut on Friday (31 May) as England face France at St James Park (8pm UK) in their latest EURO qualifying fixture.
It’s certainly a reward for what has arguably been the 23-year-old’s best season at the Club, scoring seven goals in all competitions, including four in the WSL.
Jess has been training with the group at St George’s Park this week before travelling up to Tyneside for the home fixture before an away match against the same opponents four days later at Stade Geoffroy-Guichard in Saint-Etienne, France (8pm UK).
Even if our number seven doesn’t feature in the double-header with France over the next two weeks, she could be presented with an opportunity next month when the Lionesses meet up once again for the final two fixtures in their EURO 2025 qualifying group.
Wiegman’s side will welcome the Republic of Ireland to Norwich City’s Carrow Road on Friday 12 July (8pm UK) before concluding with a trip to take on Sweden on Tuesday 16 July (6pm UK).
