Manchester City’s behind-the-scenes documentary covering their historic Treble-winning season of 2022/23 – released by Netflix – now has an official release date.
Pep Guardiola and his players became just the second side in English football history to follow up a Premier League title win with an FA Cup and UEFA Champions League honour in a single season, completing the feat in a two-week period.
Manchester City’s first-team circle were followed on their journey by the club’s in-house media department, documenting every moment behind-the-scenes for a production that has now been snapped up by global streaming giants Netflix.
There is an understanding in various quarters that the American brand have sanctioned a seven-figure sum to Manchester City in exchange for the footage, with the parties working together since last summer on a lengthy editing process.
Now, as confirmed by Netflix this week, a six-part documentary series covering Manchester City’s historic-Treble season of last campaign will be released on April 2, while an official trailer can be expected as soon as this week.
The official title for the documentary, filmed by Manchester City’s in-house media team, has also been confirmed, with ‘Together: Treble Winners’ having long been awaited by supporters of the club and the wider football community.
‘Together: Treble Winners’ will become the second Manchester City-focussed documentary to be streamed to a global audience, following on from Amazon Prime’s edition covering the 2017/18 season – Pep Guardiola’s first silverware-winning campaign at the club.
Manchester City will also become the first Premier League side to feature on Netflix, with the production giants having seen enormous success in the likes of Formula 1, Tennis, and Golf, alongside their iconic Sunderland-focussed feature.
The sale of footage to Netflix is an incredible scalp for Manchester City and their highly-talented production efforts, whilst the new documentary further continues the Premier League giants’ global growth in the game.
