Morgan Gibbs-White says Lee Carsley is the perfect replacement for Gareth Southgate as England boss.
Carsley is currently in interim charge of the Three Lions, who face Ireland on Saturday before taking on Finland at Wembley in the Nations League next week.
Gibbs-White is among four players Carsley has opted to call up to the senior squad for the first time – with Noni Madueke, Tino Livramento and Angel Gomes also part of the group.
The Nottingham Forest attacker played under Carsley for the U21 side which won the European Championships and backed him to succeed if given the senior team job on a permanent basis.
“I know how he works, he’s a great manager tactically, man-management is great,” Gibbs-White said.
“I was buzzing when I found out that he got the job as he really deserved it and I feel like it suits him perfectly. Hopefully the games go well for him and you never know what the future holds.
“There’s similar parts of what we did in the summer last year that he wants us to do now. It’s a long journey to the World Cup but our main focus is on the Nations League.”
