HORSHAM TOWNSHIP, PA —A suspect was shot during a burglary at a jewelry store in The Shoppes at English Village early Wednesday morning, police said.
Horsham Lt. Larry Bozzomo told Patch that an employee at Jems, Jewels, and Gold interrupted a burglary shortly after 5 a.m. Wednesday.

During the incident, the employee encountered a suspect inside the store unlawfully and a gun went off.
Police found a suspect with a wound to the arm. The suspect was taken to an area hospital for the non-life-threatening injury, Bozzomo said.

An unknown number of additional suspects fled the store before police arrived, police said.
Police said that several stores were impacted and could not open for business for several hours.
He said there is no danger to the public. The shopping center parking lot was reopened around 8 a.m. Wednesday.
The shooting did not involve police officers, authorities said.
The Shoppes at English Village at 1460 Bethlehem Pike are a unique collection of apparel, specialty retail shops, eateries, and services. They include a Trader Joe’s and a Turning Point restaurant.
Police said the incident remains under investigation.
