Struggle to go on holiday without your favourite brand of tea? According to research from Saga Holidays, a third of Britons pack tea to go on holiday.
The team then looked at how expensive British tea bags were in destinations around the globe to find out where tourists could save by buying tea once they’re there.
According to the research, India is the cheapest country in the world to buy tea bags with 25 coming in at just 213 rupees (£2.03).
It’s hardly surprising to see India top the rankings as it’s the second biggest tea producing country in the world, second only to China.
While Britons will find English Breakfast tea available for a bargain in India, the country is famed for its own varieties such as Assam and Darjeeling.
Chai tea is made by brewing black tea with milk and water and then sweetening the drink with sugar.
Herbs and spices are then added to the tea. The drink is extremely popular in India and well worth a try on a holiday.
In Europe, Austria was the cheapest country to buy English Breakfast tea bags, with 25 coming in at £2.36.
Austrians generally drink more coffee than tea but it’s still widely sold. Belgium was third cheapest on the list with 25 tea bags for £2.39.
Thailand was by far the most expensive place to purchase English Breakfast tea bags with 25 costing a whopping £7.54.
It might be a good idea to pack some tea bags if you’re travelling to Thailand unless you’re keen to make the switch to a Thai iced tea.
